Two people are facing a Robbery charge after an incident on Saturday night in which a victim was robbed of money and personal belongings.
On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at about 10:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Victoria Avenue and Lorne Street for a report that one person was being assaulted by as many as three other people. As police were en route, there was further information that one suspect was walking toward Victoria Park. Officers located an adult male carrying a pink bag. As officers detained this person, the victim approached alleging that the male was one of her assailants. Then, as the victim was being treated by EMS for injuries, a female walked past with a backpack that the victim identified as her property. A male and female were arrested and charged.
Thirty-four year-old Darnell Leon SANGWAIS, of Regina, and 18 year-old Pheonix PAPEQUASH, OF Montmartre SK, are jointly charged with Robbery, section 344(1)(b) CC. Â Both SANGWAIS and PAPEQUASH made their first court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (today), August 20, 2022.
