A 49 year-old male has been charged in connection with a vehicle/cyclist collision yesterday afternoon (Thursday, March 17th) in Regina. (Note: this was described in an earlier news release as a vehicle/pedestrian collision, but the victim was on a bicycle at the time of the collision.)
Police were dispatched, at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, to the intersection at Avonhurst Drive and Elphinstone Street for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist. The vehicle was identified as a Chevrolet truck which left the scene after striking the cyclist. The 56 year-old victim was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious, but later described as not life-threatening. The truck was located, just after midnight, by a patrol sergeant, who recognized that the vehicle matched the description of the truck involved in the hit and run. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody without incident and, after further investigation, charged in connection with the collision.
