Three men have been charged in connection with an overnight investigation by the Regina Police Service Stolen Auto Unit. Investigators identified and located a stolen auto believed to have been used in a recent Break & Enter and arrested the three occupants without incident.
This investigation pulls together separate events reported to police in the past week. The stolen vehicle was reported to police on Friday, January 28th. An unlocked 2009 Dodge Caliber was taken from a parking lot in the 2200 block of Broad Street. On Tuesday, February 1, 2022, police received a report of a stolen license plate from a similar model vehicle in the 700 block of Montague Street. The license plate was stolen sometime between January 30th and February 1st. Then, on February 2nd, just after midnight, there was a Break & Enter at a business in the 800 block of McCarthy Boulevard. Investigators with the Stolen Auto Unit located the stolen vehicle the night of February 2nd and made three arrests, without incident. Further investigation led to charges against the three male suspects.
The accused are 40 year-old Michael Alexander MANTEE, 32 year-old Robert Lawrence McDONALD, and 42 year-old Vincent Regan John SAYER, all of Regina. The three males are jointly charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (vehicle), s. 355(b) CC; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (license plate), s. 355(b) CC.
In addition Michael Alexander MANTEE and Vincent Regan John SAYER are jointly charged with:
- Break, Enter and Commit Theft, s. 348(1)(b) CC; and
- Possession of Break-in Tools, s. 351(1) CC.
In addition to the joint charges listed above, Michael MANTEE is also facing charges of:
- Breach of Probation, s. 733.1(1); and
- Identity Fraud, Possession of an Identity Document, s. 56.1(1) CC.
Robert Lawrence McDONALD is charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order, s. 145(5)(a) CC.
Vincent Regan John SAYER is also charged with:
- Breach of Probation, s. 733.1(1) CC;
- Possession of a Credit Card Obtained by Crime, s. 342(1)(c); and
- Identity Fraud, Possession of an Identity Document, s. 56.1(1) CC.
All three accused individuals made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
