As the result of continued investigation into what was initially treated as an attempted murder, the Regina Police Service has concluded their investigation and has deemed the matter to be a non-criminal matter.
This investigation began on Thursday, September 9, 2021, when police were dispatched to a report of an injured male at a house in the 1300 block of Athol Street. There they located an adult male who had sustained injury to his throat, described as serious. The injured male was taken to hospital as police initiated an investigation. The early information offered to police described an assault on the victim by two unknown males, resulting in the life-threatening injury. Police investigation has now determined that the cause of the injuries sustained by the 43 year-old male were not criminal in nature as previously indicated, and that there poses no additional risk to the public.
