On Sunday, June 20, 2021, Regina Police Service members discharged a CEW, commonly known as a Taser, in an arrest. This advisory is in keeping with the Regina Police Service’s commitment to notify the public each time a CEW is discharged against a person.
On Sunday, June 20, 2021, at approximately 12:45 a.m., police were dispatched to 2730 12th Avenue for a report of an unwanted guest. Information received was that a male was causing problems trying to fight people inside of an apartment and the residents wanted him removed.
Police arrived and were confronted with a male holding a kitchen knife. The male was in an agitated state and confrontational with police. The male approached police with the knife and did not listen to commands to drop it. Police deployed a CEW, which was effective in allowing police to gain control of the male safely. The male sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
