On June 8, 2021, at approximately 5:15pm, members of the Regina Police Service were dispatched to the area of Wascana Street and 4th Avenue for a report of a weapons offence. A suspect male was said to be threatening another male with a knife.
Police arrived in the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect in the 1000 block of Pasqua Street. A Regina Police Service member confronted the suspect in an attempt to detain the male. The suspect male produced a knife from his waistband and waved it towards the police officer. The police officer gave the suspect direction to drop the knife. After being challenged numerous times the suspect threw the knife towards but missing the police officer. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. It was determined this male was not the suspect from the original weapons call for service.
Thirty year-old Michael Andrew PELLETIER, of Regina is charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer While Carrying a Weapon [CC 270.01(1)(A)];
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose [CC 88];
- Carrying Concealed Weapon [CC 90]
PELLETIER will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
