The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into a serious motor vehicle collision today (Monday) between a semi-truck and a pedestrian. The victim, a 68 year-old female, is currently in hospital.
Police were dispatched at approximately 10:48 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021, to the intersection of Prince of Wales Drive and Victoria Avenue East in Regina. The early information received by the Communications Centre indicated a pedestrian had been struck by a semi-truck. Police, EMS and other emergency personnel arrived at the scene and the victim was taken to hospital by EMS. Preliminary investigation indicates the semi was northbound on Prince of Wales Drive and turning east (or right) onto Victoria Avenue East. The pedestrian was crossing Victoria Avenue East from the south side of the roadway, heading to the north side. The area was closed to traffic for several hours as police collision reconstruction experts gathered information, measurements and images of the scene. The roadway was opened again at approximately 2:30 p.m. The victim remains in hospital.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed all or part of this collision to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500, to offer information. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
