An incident of dangerous driving and refusal to stop for police has resulted in charges against a 31 year-old Regina female. A 41 year-old male was also arrested and charged for breach of his release conditions.
This investigation began on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, around 2:00 a.m., when uniformed patrol members tried to conduct a traffic stop on a truck that had a partially obscured license plate. The driver of the truck refused to stop, increasing speed and disobeying a red light at 4th Avenue and Lewvan Drive. The officers de-activated their emergency equipment and stopped at the intersection, notifying dispatch. They saw the vehicle turn north-bound onto Royal Street. A Canine unit in the immediate area was notified and started checking the area, finding the suspect truck parked in a garage on Royal Street. That led to the arrest of a female, believed to be the driver. A male at that address, who was wanted for other unrelated offences, was also arrested. Charges were laid after further investigation.
Thirty-one year-old Jaryn Maria Dawn BURKE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer, section 320.17 CC;
- Operate Conveyance in a manner Dangerous to Public, section 320.13(1) CC; and
- Breach of Release Conditions, section 145(5)(a) CC.
Forty-one year-old Tyler Curtis GURSKEY, of Regina, is charged with:
- Breach of Release Conditions, section 145(5)(a) CC.
Both BURKE and GURSKEY made their first court appearances on their charges before Provincial Court at 1:30 p.m. (today) Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
