Patrol officers intervened in a domestic-conflict-related Break and Enter last night (Tuesday) that resulted in the arrest of a 31 year-old Regina male.
At approximately 11:05 p.m., on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, patrol members were dispatched to a residence in Gladmer Park for a report of an assault in progress. The victim, a 27 year-old female was able to let a family member know that her former partner was there and had allegedly assaulted her. When police arrived, they found the victim inside the residence, and then located the suspect. Police had to use physical force to gain control of the suspect, but he was taken into custody without further incident. The male was on conditions prohibiting him from contacting the victim. She had agreed to let him pick up his belongings from the deck, when it’s alleged he forced his way inside, took some money from the victim and raised his fists. No one was physically injured in this incident. The male was charged.
Because this is an incident of domestic-related assault, making the accused’s name public could have the unintended consequence of identifying the victim, potentially risking her safety. For that reason, the Regina Police Service will not release the accused male’s name at this time. He is charged with the following offences:
- Break and Enter, section 348(1)(a) CC;
- Assault, section 266 CC;
- Resist Arrest, section 129(a) CC; and
- Breach of conditions of no contact, section 145(5)(a) CC.
The accused made his first court appearance on these charges before Provincial Court at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
