On Sunday May 9, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a.m. police were dispatched to a business in the 2200 block of Broad Street for a report of a male threatening a staff member with a knife. The suspect male entered the business and proceeded to conceal an item in his jacket, the suspect made his way towards the store exit. Before exiting the suspect concealed a second item. A staff member witnessed this and approached the male. The suspect then produced a knife and held it up to the staff member. The suspect exited the store and was followed at a distance by another staff member.
Police located the suspect within proximity to the business and he was arrested without incident. The stolen items and knife were recovered. Forty-eight year old, Cory Wayne THOMPSON is charged with the following offences:
Theft Under $5000 [CC 334(b)]
Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(a)].
THOMPSON will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday September 29th, 2021.
