One adult and two youths – all males – are facing charges after a weekend incident that sent two people to hospital with apparent stab wounds.
This incident occurred on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at approximately 1:15 a.m., when patrol members were dispatched to an alley in the 1500 block of Retallack Street for a report of an injured male. A member of the Canine Unit had come upon a 41 year-old male who was bleeding profusely from several apparent stab wounds. Officers rendered emergency first aid until EMS could transport the injured male to hospital. Police also located a second male, age 49, who also appeared to have sustained apparent stab wounds; he too, was taken to hospital. Additional patrol members moved into the area to set up a perimeter and located two suspects, who were taken into custody without incident. Investigation led to a third suspect, who was believed to be inside a residence in the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue. Police entered the residence on a warrant and located a third male who was also taken into custody without further incident. Subsequent investigation led to charges against an adult male and two youths.
Thirty-seven year-old Desmond Levi EAGLECHILD, of Regina, and two male youths, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with:
- Two charges of Attempt Murder, s. 239(1)(b) CC;
- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery, s. 348(1)(b) CC.
EAGLECHILD made his first court appearance on these charges before Provincial Court at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021.
Both youths made their first court appearances on these charges before Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021.
