At approximately 7:22 p.m. on March 27th, 2021, police received a complaint of a dangerous driver, operating a 2008 Brown Chevrolet Malibu. This vehicle had been subject of a similar complaint earlier in the day however police could not locate it at that time. At approximately 7:38 p.m. police located the vehicle pulled over and unoccupied in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street. A male walked out to the vehicle, opened the driver’s door and was challenged by police. This male became confrontational, got into the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was located approximately 30 minutes later. Police deployed a spike belt on the vehicle causing most of the tires to deflate. The vehicle came to a stop near 3rd Avenue and Argyle Street and the 21 year old, male driver exited the vehicle and was non-compliant with officers. With the assistance of a canine unit, the driver was taken into custody and arrested.
Twenty one year old Dana Wallace is charged with:
• Obstruct Peace Officer [CC 129];
• Operation Conveyance Dangerous to the Public [CC 320.13(1)];
• Impaired Operation of a Vehicle [CC 320.14(1)(a)];
• Refusal to Comply with Breath Demand [CC 320.15(1)]
Wallace will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on March 29th, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
