A 16 year-old male is facing a total of 22 charges – most of them firearms-related – after an investigation this past weekend in Regina.
On Sunday, February 28, 2021, police were dispatched at about 12:30 a.m. to the 2400 block of Parliament Avenue for a report that a male youth had just left a residence and may be in possession of a firearm. Police obtained a description of the youth and, shortly after arriving in the area, located a male matching the suspect description. He was taken into custody without incident. Investigation indicated the male was on several conditions, including an order prohibiting him from possessing firearms. Further investigation led to the recovery of dozens of rounds of ammunition (various calibres) and three sawed-off firearms (two .22-calibre rifles and one 12-gauge shotgun). One of the firearms was loaded. The male was subsequently charged and held for court.
The youth cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is facing the following charges:
- Fail to Comply with Conditions [137 YCJA];
- 4 X Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01.(1);

- 2 X Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [95(1)(a) CC]; and
