A 20 year-old male has been charged with Robbery with a Firearm after investigation into an incident on Connaught Street last Saturday.
On Saturday, February 27, 2021, at about 11:18 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Connaught Street for a weapons offence involving a firearm. Preliminary investigation indicated two males entered a residence; one pulled out a gun and allegedly pointed it at one of the occupants of the residence. It’s alleged one of the males stole a cellphone from this victim. A short time later, the males left, with a female who had come up from the basement of the residence. Through investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect males. There was initially concern for the well-being of the female accompanying the suspects, but police were later able to locate her and confirmed that she was unharmed. Continued investigation led to the arrest of a 20 year-old male on March 1st.
Twenty-year-old Jayden MERCER, of Regina, is charged with:
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm [344(1)(a.1) CC];
- Pointing a Firearm [87 CC];
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1) CC]; and
- 2 X Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
MERCER made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
