A 24 year-old male is facing multiple assault charges after a violent domestic-related incident over the weekend.
On Saturday, February 13th, 2020 at approximately 5:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Gladmer Park for a report of an assault. Police were notified that the alleged assault was a domestic-related incident, involving members of the same household. When police arrived, they located the suspect, an adult female victim and three children under the age of five. When police told the male he was under arrest and attempted to take him into custody, the male engaged in a physical altercation with the responding police officers. During the altercation, the male allegedly assaulted both police officers before fleeing the residence on foot. Police located the male nearby; he was arrested and taken into custody. The victim and the youngest of the children were taken to hospital for treatment.
As this is an incident of domestic conflict, the Regina Police Service will not be releasing the name of the male charged as to protect the identity of the victims/occupants of the same household. As a result: a 24 year-old male, of Lebret, SK, is facing charges of:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm [CC 267 (B)];
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Choking, Suffocating or Strangling [CC 267 (C)];
- Assault [CC 266];
- 2 X Assault A Peace Officer [CC 270 (1)(A)];
- Resist Arrest [CC 129 (A)];
- Uttering Threats [CC 264.1 (1)(A)];
- Mischief Under $5000 [CC 430 (4)].
The accused made his first court appearance on the charges in Provincial Court on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
