On Saturday, January 9, 2021 at approximately 6:45 p.m., police attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle on James Hill Road. The driver did not stop for police and instead drove away. The vehicle then struck a building, a parked vehicle and a light pole. The three female occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Police confirmed that the vehicle was stolen and investigation led officers to locating the three occupants of the vehicle nearby; all were taken into police custody without incident. One was released without charges.
A thirteen year old female, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Theft Of Motor Vehicle [CC 333.1 (1)]
A fifteen year-old female, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Failure To Stop After Accident [CC 320.16 (1)];
- Flight From Peace Officer [CC 320.17].
Both female youth will make their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on June 2, 2021.
