A 30 year-old Regina woman is facing a charge of possession of stolen property after an incident involving a stolen Ford Escape on Wednesday (yesterday).
On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at about 6:20 p.m., an officer working in a plainclothes capacity, spotted a vehicle which had been reported stolen the morning of November 16th. The red Ford Escape made a stop in the area of Avonhurst and Albert Street, then carried on. Officers were able to keep the vehicle under surveillance and another officer attempted to deploy a spike belt at McKinley Avenue, just west of Elphinstone Street, but this tactic was unsuccessful. The vehicle swerved around the spike belt and continued until it was abandoned in the west alley of Connaught Street, near 1st Avenue North. Police believe the driver fled from the vehicle. A female, believed to be the passenger, was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged. The other suspect was not located.
Thirty year-old Erin Ashley COTE, of Regina, is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC]. COTE was released on an undertaking to appear in Provincial Court on January 4, 2021.
