A 25 year-old male has been arrested on warrants including Attempt Murder and Mischief. In addition to the outstanding warrants, police had been searching for this individual in connection with a vehicle stolen on August 24, 2020.
This investigation began on Monday, August 24th at about 3:00 a.m., when a female reported her vehicle stolen. The victim alleged she had given a male acquaintance a ride into the city just over an hour earlier, at about 1:40 a.m. When the victim stopped the vehicle briefly and exited the car, her passenger drove away with her car. Police did locate the vehicle at about noon on August 24, 2020, but the suspect was gone. Through investigation officers identified the suspect as a male already wanted on outstanding warrants, including Attempt Murder in connection with an August 14th incident. On August 14, 2020 at about 8:30 a.m., in the 2900 block of 1st Avenue, a 23 year-old male victim sustained serious injuries, believed to have been caused by a bladed weapon.
Continued efforts to locate the suspect, wanted for both the Attempt Murder and Theft of Auto, led to an arrest on Thursday August 26th. At approximately 10:20 p.m., a canine member on general patrol arrested the 25 year-old male suspect without incident.
In addition to the warrants requested, 25 year-old Patrick Robert ASHAM, of Regina, is charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC]; and
- 2 X Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC].
ASHAM made his first court appearance on the new charges before Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
