The employees in Strategic Services are the keepers of information at the Regina Police Service.
Using numerous sources of information, members of the Strategic Services unit collect data to determine: who, what, when, where, why and how. Analysts find series, patterns and trends in criminal activity, analyze long term problems, and inform decision making within the Regina Police Service. Strategic Services is made up of 9 civilian employees:
- Manager
- 3 Crime Analysts
- Strategic Analyst
- Operations Analyst
- Policy Analyst
- Intelligence Analyst
- Programmer Analyst
Strategic Services organizes statistical data, informs strategic direction, long term planning, and organizational efficiency, while providing support to three crucial pillars of policing.
Police operations: by determining trends and patterns in criminal activity, as well as mapping hot spots in the city, and tracking repeat offenders/victims. Analysts also track and gather information on police deployment and proactive police initiatives.
Police investigations: by creating risk and threat assessments, mapping out timelines, creating organizational charts, and completing telephone analysis.
Corporate communications: by creating strategic plans, business plans, workload analysis, and making recommendations on best practices.
