At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, police were called to a report of a weapons offence at a business in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue.
The caller reported an adult male had entered the business, grabbed various grocery items and attempted to leave the store without paying. When employees approached the suspect, he threatened them with a knife before leaving the business on foot.
Officers were able to locate the suspect a short distance away. He was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the suspect, subsequent to arrest, revealed a knife.
As a result, 37 year-old Dustin JURISTA is charged with:
- 2 x Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(a)];
- Shoplifting Under $5,000 [CC 334(b)]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 [CC 355(b)].
JURISTA will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on July 20, 2026.
