Two individuals are facing charges following a traffic stop conducted by police on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., officers observed a vehicle parked in an alley in the 3100 block of Dewdney Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, officers observed illegal cigarettes on the center console of the front seat. All four occupants were subsequently taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle, subsequent to arrest, revealed a locked compartment in the seats of the vehicle. The compartment contained:
- Semi-automatic rifle
- 10 rounds of ammunition
In addition to this, a baton, two knives and bear spray were also seized during the traffic stop.
Following further investigation, two of the occupants were released. The other two were taken into custody and charged.
Thirty-seven year-old David BEAUDRY is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88].
Forty-three year-old Bradley LUHTALA is charged with:
- Careless Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)];
- Carrying Concealed Weapon [CC 90];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)(a)(ii)];
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm [CC 95(1)].
Both made their first appearances on these charges in Regina Provincial Court today (Tuesday, May 19, 2026).
