Following further investigation, it was determined the fire had been intentionally set. Investigators have since opened an arson investigation, which remains ongoing.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have video surveillance or information related to suspicious activity in the area of East Sandpiper Crescent during the early morning hours of April 16, 2026, to contact Regina Police Service. Video security footage is often a crucial part of these types of investigations. Through the Community ON Crime Prevention Initiative, the Regina Police Service offers a free, voluntary program called the Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry. The program allows participants the opportunity to assist police by registering the presence of security cameras on their property.
Participation is simple:
- Sign up and let the Regina Police Service know you have security cameras.
- Should a crime occur in the area, police can reach out to those on the camera registry to ask for video that may assist in an investigation.
When investigations can be concluded more quickly and offenders are held accountable, it helps support crime reduction efforts in our city.
