One person was taken into custody following a police operation involving members of the RPS Tactical Support Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team and Patrol Unit.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, officers were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 3400 block of Park Street. When they arrived, they learned one of the residents, who was experiencing a mental health crisis, had been threatening to harm another resident of the unit. The resident called police and then exited the apartment.
Once inside the unit, police observed multiple knives on the ground and broken glass. They located the male inside and attempted to take him into custody. The male ignored police commands and locked himself in a bedroom.
Officers with the Crisis Negotiation Unit were called in to assist and, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers were able to take the male into custody, without further incident. The male had several outstanding warrants.
No charges were laid.
