The Regina Police Service is urging the public to secure valuables when using public facilities. Over the past two weeks, police have received multiple reports of theft, including stolen vehicles, from recreation facilities in the city. At this time, police believe there are up to nine suspects involved, ranging in age from nine to thirteen years old.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., police received a report of theft from a recreation facility in the 1700 block of Elphinstone Street. Four sets of keys were taken from an unlocked dressing room at the facility. The suspects then stole two vehicles from the parking lot using those keys. Police located the vehicles that evening, but the youth evaded officers. Ground units did not pursue the vehicles. The Aerial Support Unit took over from the sky. At times the vehicles were traveling in excess of 170 km/h within the city. Both vehicles were located that evening. One was unoccupied. Two youth were taken into custody from the second vehicle. Due to their age, they were released.
October 7, 2025
At approximately 7:00 p.m. police received a report of a stolen vehicle from a different recreation facility in the 1700 block of Elphinstone Street. Keys, ID and a phone were all taken from an unlocked locker at this location. The suspects then used the keys to steal a vehicle from the parking lot. They then stole a license plate from a different vehicle outside a recreation facility in the 2200 block of Lindsay Street before leaving the city. The youth suspects travelled to locations outside of the city including Balgonie and Melville throughout the course of the night, breaking into businesses and stealing various items. When RCMP attempted a traffic stop, the youths evaded at a high rate of speed, nearly running over one of the officers. Early the following morning, one of the suspects, a 13 year-old male was arrested by RCMP in relation to this occurrence.
Police continue to receive reports of theft of unsecured items (left on a bench, unsecured lockers, etc.) at various other recreation facilities throughout Regina – some are believed to be connected to the above-noted occurrences. The Regina Police Service follows crime trends closely and adjusts police presence to areas of concern as resources allow. We would like to remind the public to lock up personal items/valuables when using public facilities, do not leave valuables in your vehicle and lock your vehicle no matter where you are.
