On Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at approximately 6:10 p.m., police were called to the 300 block of Forget Street for a report of a male who appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and observed a male moving inside the vehicle. Officers told the male to exit the vehicle, to which he complied. Police then attempted for several minutes to wake a female passenger who was asleep in the back seat. A firearm was visible on the seat next to her and, because of the elevated safety risk, members of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU) and Canine Unit were called in. Following a lengthy process to get the female suspect to exit the vehicle, she emerged but resisted arrest. A Police Service Dog (PSD) was deployed and the female was eventually taken into custody. During the course of the arrest, the female suspect was bitten by the PSD. She was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite. A search of the vehicle, subsequent to arrest revealed a sawed-off rifle and a shotgun. Further investigation led to charges being laid on the male suspect.
