A 37 year-old male is charged following a dangerous driving occurrence on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., Patrol officers were traveling in the area of 7th Avenue and Lewvan Drive, when they observed a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in front of them with no lights on. The SUV turned north onto Lewvan Drive, where it continued towards 4th Avenue. Officers activated their emergency lights, attempting a traffic stop, but the driver of the SUV turned east onto 4th Avenue, where it accelerated at a high rate of speed evading police.
Ground Patrol units alerted the Aerial Support Unit (ASU) and ASU was able to observe the vehicle from above. ASU observed the vehicle travel to the 600 block of Robinson Street, at times travelling upwards of 100 km per hour in this residential area. They informed ground units the suspect vehicle had parked but no one had exited.
When officers on the ground approached the vehicle and commanded the driver to exit, the driver once again fled the scene. ASU continued to track the suspect vehicle as it drove at high rates of speed throughout the central part of the city, running a red light and almost colliding with another vehicle. The driver then drove north on Fleet Street, out of the city limits. Almost ninety minutes later, after travelling down several rural roads, the vehicle, with two occupants, came to a stop. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Regina Police Service (RPS) Canine Unit, RPS Tactical Support Unit and RPS Patrol Unit all assisted in the arrest.
As a result, 37 year-old Tristan ASHAM is charged with:
- Operate a Conveyance Dangerous to the Public [CC 320.13(1)];and
- Faily to Comply With Conditions of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
ASHAM made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court, this morning (September 2, 2025) at 9:30 a.m.
