On April 6, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the zero block of Michener Drive for the report of a break and enter. Information received was that two individuals had broken into the home and stole approximately $30,000 worth of trading cards and memorabilia.
Police arrived on scene, and through investigation, identified three individuals connected to the incident. On April 11, 2025, a search warrant was executed in the 6200 block of Dewdney Avenue. Several items were located that were confirmed to be the stolen trading cards.
On May 2, 2025, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of McCarthy Boulevard and were able to identify several items that were also confirmed to be stolen.
As a result of this investigation, 42 year-old Dallas Dale KATCHAN and 39 year-old Ryan Dustin AKEHURST, of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Break and Enter [CC 348(1)(B)];
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [CC 355(B)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
A third suspect is still wanted in relation to this case. Thirty-nine year-old James SMITH, of Regina, is wanted for Break & Enter.
