On January 26, 2025, a 36 year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to a series of break and enters to apartment buildings and subsequent thefts from mailboxes.
The first incident occurred on November 5, 2024 at an apartment building in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue North. The suspect entered the apartment, pried open mailboxes and stole several pieces of mail.
Then, on November 8, 2024, an apartment building in the 2900 block of Avonhurst Drive was targeted. Witnesses reported hearing noises in the mailbox area and when they entered the space to investigate, they came across a male suspect attempting to use a screwdriver to break into the mailboxes. The suspect immediately fled the scene.
Roughly two months later, on January 14, 2025, a male suspect walked up to the front of a residence in the 800 block of Robinson Street and removed all of the mail from the mailbox.
On January 16, 2025, an apartment building in the 2000 block of 9th Avenue North was entered. Numerous mailboxes were pried open by a male suspect and several pieces of were mail stolen.
Five days later, on January 21, 2025, the same apartment building in the 2900 block of Avonhurst Drive was entered. A male suspect used a screwdriver to open several mailboxes, was confronted by a witness and fled the scene.
Through investigation and video surveillance, Catlin PELLETIER of Lake Alma, Saskatchewan was identified as the suspect and is charged with:
- 4 x Break and Enter and Commit Theft [CC 348(1)(b)];
- 4 x Possession of Break and Enter Tools [CC 351(1)];and
- Theft under $5000 [CC 334(b)].
PELLETIER made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on January 27, 2025.
