On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Broad Street and 12th Avenue for the report that a group of youths had entered a city bus, and deployed what appeared to be bear spray.
Police and EMS attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the passengers affected. While in the area, Police located one youth matching the suspect description. Upon search, the individual was found to be in possession of a canister of bear spray, and was subsequently arrested.
The 13-year-old youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)]
The accused made their first appearance on this charge in Provincial Youth Court this morning, Thursday, December 27, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
