On Friday, October 18, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 1800 block of Osler Street for the reports of a weapons offence. Information received was that the victim had been stabbed outside the front doors of the building.
Police attended the scene and spoke with the victim who provided a suspect description. The following evening, police located a male youth who matched the suspect description near 11th Avenue and Halifax Street where he was subsequently arrested. A search of the individual revealed a knife. As a result of this investigation, a 17 year-old youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Youth Provincial Court on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
