On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Robinson Street for the report of a firearms offence. Initial information indicated that gunshots were heard in the area and a group of males were seen fleeing northbound.
Police arrived and observed two males walking westbound on 5th Avenue from Garnet Street who matched the suspect description. When police attempted to stop the suspects, both males fled on foot but were arrested without incident shortly after.
A search of the area revealed a firearm and ammunition.
As a result of this investigation, 20 year-old Michael DELORME-WHITEQUILL, of Regina is charged with:
- Discharge of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm [CC 244.2(1)(A)];
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
A 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is also charged with:
- Discharge of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm [CC 244.2(1)(A)];
- Possession of a restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)]; and
- Possession of a Firearm with a Tampered Serial Number [CC 108(1)(B)]; and
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90]; and
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer [CC 129(A)]; and
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)]
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court and Provincial Youth Court this morning, Friday, September 20, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
