On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 6:50 a.m., police were dispatched to a business on the 4200 block of Albert Street for the report of a robbery. Initial information indicated that a male youth had entered the business wearing a mask, demanded money, and smashed the counter with a hatchet before fleeing. At the time of the incident, police were unable to identify the suspect.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, police received a report that the same youth had damaged property at a residence on the 4100 block of Retallack Street.
Through investigation, police were able to identify the suspect and as a result, a 15-year-old youth was arrested without incident on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)];
- Disguise with Intent [CC 351(2)]; and
- Mischief under $5,000 [CC 430(4)].
The youth made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
