On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 4800 block of Gordon Road for the report of a weapons related offense involving a firearm. Information received was that an adult male and two females were shoplifting in the business. A Loss Prevention Officer attempted to arrest the three individuals when the male suspect pulled out what appeared to be a gun. Two of the suspects continued to flee the scene in a vehicle while one remained in custody with the Loss Prevention Officer.
Police arrived on scene and were given suspect descriptions. Later that evening, both suspects were located and arrested without incident. A search also revealed the firearm.
As a result of this investigation, 28 year-old Kaycee SARVARI is charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 91(1)];
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]; and
- Pointing a Firearm [CC 87]; and
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90]; and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order [CC 733.1(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions [CC 145(5)(A)]; and
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)] X2.
Nineteen year-old Navaeh WASACASE-EWENIN, is charged with:
- Resisting Arrest [CC 129(A)];
- Shoplifting under $5,000 [CC 334(B)].
Thirty-four year-old Jaquelyn BAISI is charged with:
- Shoplifting under $5,000 [CC 334(B)]
SARVARI made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. WASACASE-EWENIN and BAISI will make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
