On July 13, 2024, at approximately 3:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a retail business on the 400 block of Albert Street North for a break and enter in progress.
Police arrived at the business and observed property damage indicative of break and enter, but suspects were not present. Investigation led to the west alley of the 400 block of Rae Street, where three youth were spotted with a shopping cart of merchandise specific to the retail business. Police apprehended one of the youth, and the others fled. Members of the Regina Police Service Canine Unit performed a track, and the two remaining youth were located nearby and apprehended without further incident.
An inventory count of the items recovered in the cart exceeded a retail value of $3,500.
As a result, two 14 year-old Regina youths, and a 12 year-old Regina youth, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are jointly charged with:
- Break and Enter and Commit [CC 348(1)(B); and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.
The youth are scheduled to make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on August 27, 2024.
