On the early morning of Monday, May 13, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m. police were dispatched to a restaurant on the 4300 block of Dewdney Avenue for the report of a robbery. Information received indicated that two males had entered the restaurant and threatened staff with a weapon, stole items, and left.
Police detained a 37 year-old male matching the suspect description nearby, who was confirmed to be one of the suspects. The weapon and stolen items were also recovered nearby.
Thirty-seven year-old Steven Brett MAHINGEN, of Kawacatoose First Nation, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)].
MAHINGEN made his first appearance on this charge in Provincial Court on May 13, 2024.
Further investigation into this matter led to the identity of the second suspect, a 26 year-old male, who was arrested on Monday, June 17, 2024.
Twenty-six year-old Maynard Alfred WHITEHAWK, of Regina, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)].
WHITEHAWK made his first appearance on this charge in Provincial Court on Monday, June 17, 2024.
