On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., police were attending an unrelated call for service on the 400 block of McIntyre Street when they observed a male bicycling nearby while blaring loud music. The male appeared to be concealing a large item under his jacket which appeared to be a weapon. Police commanded the male to stop, but he attempted to bicycle away to Broad Street and 2nd Avenue where officers were able to apprehend him. A search of the male revealed a loaded firearm.
The male was identified and found to be in breach of curfew and conditions not to possess firearms or ammunition.
As a result, 28 year-old Dakotta Harry NEPINAK, of Regina, is charged with:
- Carry Concealed Weapon [90 CC];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 91(1)];
- Unsafe Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)];
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm [CC 95(1)];
- 2 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Failure to Comply with Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
NEPINAK makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
