Investigation into four convenience store robberies dating back to December of 2022, has led to arrests.
On December 10, 2022, police were dispatched to a robbery which occurred at a convenience store on the 200 block of Winnipeg Street. A male with a knife entered, demanded money and took merchandise, then fled.
On December 12, 2022, police were dispatched to a convenience store on the 400 block of North Broad Street for a robbery. The store had been robbed by two males, one of which had a firearm, and the males fled.
On February 24, 2023, shortly before 9:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a convenience store on the 5500 block of 7th Avenue for the report of a robbery. Three males entered the store, one of them holding a firearm and demanding money. After the robbery, the suspects fled.
On June 29, 2023, shortly before 10:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a convenience store on the 100 block of Albert Street. Three males entered, robbed the store, and fled.
Police investigation led to the identification of the suspects in relation to these incidents. A 16 year-old male was arrested and charged on March 14, 2024, a 15 year-old male was arrested and charged on March 19, 2024, and an 18 year-old male was arrested and charged on April 11, 2024.
A 16 year-old youth, who will not be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 2 X Robbery (Commercial) [CC 344(1)(B)];
- 2 X Disguise with Intent [CC 351(2)]; and
- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of Offence [CC 85(2)(A)].
A 15 year-old youth, who will not be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 3 X Robbery (Commercial) [CC 344(1)(B)]; and
- 3 X Disguise with Intent [CC 351(2)].
An 18 year-old Regina male, who was a youth at the time of the offence and so cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 3 X Robbery (Commercial) [CC 344];
- 2 X Disguise with Intent [CC 351(2)]; and
- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offense [CC 85(2)(A)].
The 15 year-old made his first appearance on these charges on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. The 18 year-old made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Friday, April 12, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. The 16 year-old youth is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges Monday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m.
