On Friday, March 22, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a vehicle disobeyed a red stop light eastbound through the intersection of 4th Avenue and Albert Street, continued down 4th Avenue at high rates of speed, and nearly struck a police vehicle.
The Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit observed the suspect vehicle as it travelled north, drove through a grassy area in a dangerous manner, and parked at a residence on the 700 block of Broad Street, where two males exited the vehicle and entered the residence.
Police entered the home and detained four occupants. The two males from the vehicle were identified, and arrested and charged for dangerous drive. A search of the suspect vehicle yielded ammunition, finding both occupants in violation of conditions.
Twenty-four year-old Matthew LERAT-POLSON, of Cowessess First Nation, is charged with:
- Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1)];
- Dangerous Drive [CC 320.13(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)].
Thirty-eight year-old Jeffrey Edward CANADA, of Regina, is charged with:
- 2 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1)]; and
- Dangerous Drive [CC 320.13(1)].
CANADA and LERAT-POLSON made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Monday, March 25, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
