At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop at 4th Avenue and Athol Street.
When officers approached the vehicle to speak with the occupants, an adult male and adult female, they learned the driver did not have a license. They also observed drug paraphernalia and the handle of a firearm sticking out from under the passenger seat.
Both occupants were arrested and taken into custody. A search of the vehicle and both suspects turned up the following:
- Loaded air pistol;
- Five cellphones;
- Various quantities of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Ketamine;
- Various quantities of other drugs;
- Items related to packaging drugs;
- Two safes;
- Knives; and
- Cash.
As a result of the investigation, 27 year-old Sameer DARWISH is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- 7x Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)].
35 year-old Kasey SKITCH is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88]; Court Info #991255612(1)
- 7x Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Fail to Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1(1)]
Both DARWISH AND SKITCH made their first appearances on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on January 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
