On December 17, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Regina Police Service observed a suspicious vehicle near Angus St and 6th Ave. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. Police identified the driver as being a prohibited driver, and as they attempted to place him under arrest, the driver sped away from police. RPS Air Support unit was able to monitor the vehicle, which drove at a high rate of speed throughout the city. Items including a firearm were observed discarded from the vehicle, which ground police located and retrieved.
The vehicle was eventually driven to the 200 block of North Albert Street where the occupants exited. They were arrested by police and subsequently charged.
Twenty-four year old Chance FINK of Regina, SK is charged with:
- Resist Arrest [129(a) CC];
- Dangerous Drive [320.13(1) CC];
- Prohibited Drive [320.18(1)(a) CC];
- Breach of Probation [733.1 CC];
- Careless Use of Firearm [86(1) CC];
- Weapons Dangerous [88 CC];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing that It’s Possession Is Unauthorized [92(1) CC];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [94(1)(a)(ii) CC];
- Possession Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [95(1) CC];
- Breach of Firearms Prohibition [117.01(1) CC]; and
- Possession of a Controlled Substance [4(1) CDSA].
Twenty-five year old Cayla BIRD of Regina, SK is charged with:
- Careless Use of Firearm [86(1) CC];
- Weapons Dangerous [88 CC];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing that It’s Possession Is Unauthorized [92(1) CC];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [94(1)(a)(ii) CC]; and
- Possession Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [95(1) CC].
Both FINK and BIRD appear in Regina Provincial Court on these charges on Monday, December 18th, at 2:00 pm.
