Two people are facing charges following a break in at a business in the 1600 block of Winnipeg Street early this morning.
Shortly before 3:00 a.m. police were alerted, by a security company, to a break and enter in progress at an auto body shop. The caller reported two suspects, a male and female, were walking around inside a locked compound at the business.
When police arrived, they located a male and female matching the suspect description walking away from the business. Both were arrested. A search subsequent to the arrest turned up a cordless electric grinder hidden under the male suspect’s jacket. A review of the security footage showed the suspects cutting off the lock to the compound gate.
The female suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Both were taken into custody and, as a result of this investigation, are facing charges.
Thirty-eight year-old Tanya Rose WESAQUATE is charged with:
- Break and Enter With Intent [CC 348(1)(A)].
Twenty-eight year-old Patrick James AKAPEW is charged with:
- Break and Enter With Intent [CC 348(1)(A)];

Both AKAPEW and WESAQUATE made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court today, Monday, November 27, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
