The Regina Board of Police Commissioners is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Chief of Police for the Regina Police Service.
Following a comprehensive, nation-wide, five-month search process, Chief Farooq Hassan Sheikh has been named the 15th Chief of the Regina Police Service.
Chief Sheikh (pronunciation, SHAKE) comes to the Regina Police Service from the Alberta Sheriff’s Service where he’s held the position of Chief since 2021. The Alberta Sheriff’s Service has over one thousand employees, who perform a wide range of law enforcement and public safety activities across the province of Alberta.
Chief Sheikh has over 31-years experience in law enforcement, serving in senior leadership roles for the London Metropolitan Police and West Midlands Police in the United Kingdom and as a member with both the Calgary and Central Saanich Police Services, among others. He has his Masters Degree in Criminology and is passionate about crime prevention through proactive policing. Employee health and well-being is also a priority for him, as policing becomes increasingly dangerous and complex.

The Board would like to acknowledge Deputy Chief Dean Rae and Deputy Chief Lorilee Davies, who have fulfilled the duties of the Chief of Police since July.
Chief Sheikh looks forward to joining the Regina Police Service on December 1, 2023, and to leading such a highly respected and trusted group of individuals.
