Police Operation Leads to Multiple Charges

A 38 year-old male wanted on sexual assault charges is now facing multiple firearms charges following his arrest yesterday evening.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, officers from the RPS Street Gang Unit, SWAT team and Canine Unit searched a residence in the 4700 Block of 4^th Avenue. Investigation led police to believe a suspect wanted in a recent sexual assault was at the location and that he had firearms in his possession.

The suspect attempted to flee the residence but was apprehended by members of the Canine Unit. During the course of the arrest, the suspect was bitten by the Police Service Dog. He was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of minor injuries as a result. In a search of the residence, officers located the following:

• Assault rifle
• Semi-automatic firearm
• Ammunition and magazines for both firearms

As a result of this investigation and the previous sexual assault investigation, 38 year old Forrest PELLETIER is charged with:

• Sexual Assault [CC 271];
• 2 X Possession of a Firearm [CC 92 (1)];
• 2 X Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
• 6 X Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01 (1)]; and
• 3 X Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01 (1)].

PELLETIER will make his first appearance on the firearms-related charges today – Thursday, September 21, 2023 –  at 2:00 p.m. in Regina Provincial Court.
