The bi-annual RPS Community Perception Survey is once again underway. This is the seventh time this survey has been shared with our community. Researchers are looking to gather feedback on several topics related to public perceptions of the Regina Police Service and crime in the city of Regina.
The survey is conducted on behalf of RPS, but is carried out by an independent group of researchers from the University of Regina and Prairie Research Associates.
Starting today, for several weeks, those conducting the survey will be reaching out via phone call to citizens who are randomly selected using postal code information. Employees of Prairie Research Associates will identify themselves at the start of the call.
The questions being asked will relate to seven general topics: police effectiveness; police responsiveness; visibility and presence of police; fear of crime; trust and confidence in police; traffic enforcement and perceptions of the police service’s use of social media.
The Regina Police Service wants to reassure residents that this is a legitimate survey and part of the Service’s ongoing commitment to gather public input. We encourage residents who are contacted for this survey to take advantage of this important opportunity to provide their feedback.
To ensure objectivity and reduce bias, the survey was designed by two professors from the University of Regina and is being conducted by Prairie Research Associates based out of Winnipeg.
Anyone who works for the Regina Police Service, or lives with someone who currently works for the Regina Police Service, will be excluded from participating in the survey.
