Three males and one female are facing drug trafficking and firearms charges after a two-month investigation by the Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit (SGU).
During the course of investigation, police identified suspects believed to be involved in drug-trafficking. On August 25, 2023 at approximately 3:30 p.m., police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that one of the suspects was driving. The male driver was taken into police custody without incident. In a search of the vehicle incident to arrest, officers recovered a loaded firearm, a quantity of illicit drugs and more than $16,000 in Canadian currency. At approximately 6:15 p.m., police then arrested a second suspect, an adult female, at a residence in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue. In a search following the arrest, officers located illicit drugs and Canadian currency on her person.
Later that evening, at approximately 9:45 p.m., SGU investigators executed a search warrant on a residence in the 2000 block of McDonald Street with assistance from members of the Regina Drug Unit and Patrol officers. Two males inside the residence were taken into police custody and charged. During the search of the residence, officers recovered:
-Two firearms and ammunition
-850+ grams of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine
-47 grams of a substance believed to be MDMA
-48 grams of a substance believed to be Cocaine
-Canadian currency
As a result: Forty-one year-old Randy HOLLETT, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 91 (1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Motor Vehicle [CC 94 (1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
- Tampering With Serial Number of a Firearm [CC 108 (1)(A)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5 (2)];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000 [CC 355].
Thirty-five year-old Amanda Rae TWARDY, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5 (2)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance [CDSA 4 (1)];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime [CC 355 (B)].
Thirty-two year-old Luke Daniel BAGCHI, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 91 (1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime [CC 355 (B)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5 (2)].
Thirty-eight year-old Kent Ryan HEISE, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92 (1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
- Tampering With Serial Number of a Firearm [CC 108 (1)(A)];
- 2 X Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01 (1)];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime [CC 355 (B)];
- 3 X Possession of a Scheduled Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5 (2)].
HEISE and HOLLETT made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
TWARDY and BAGCHI will make their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on October 12, 2023.
