The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating an in-custody death following a medical emergency at the Regina Police Service Detention Unit.
Paramedics were called to the RPS Detention Unit at 1717 Saskatchewan Drive at approximately 3:50 a.m. this morning, August 22, 2023. Officers working in the unit reported an adult male suffering an apparent medical emergency inside his cell.
EMS transported the male to hospital where he later passed away. As this is now under investigation by SIRT, RPS will not be providing further comment on the matter.
