On Friday, June 30, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of Arthur Street for a report of an assault in progress. Information received was that a male had punched a female.
Police arrived on scene and spoke to the victim, an adult female, who stated that she saw a male nearly strike a pedestrian with his vehicle. She yelled at the male, who then got out of his vehicle and assaulted the victim. The male then got back into his vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim, and drove away.
About 90 minutes later, police located the vehicle matching the description and officers observed the vehicle driving erratically and at high speeds. Police investigation led to the identity of the male driver, who was arrested on warrants on an unrelated matter on July 1, 2023.
Thirty-six year-old William Wayne STARR, of Regina, is charged with:
- Assault [CC 266];
- Operate Conveyance Dangerous To Public [CC 320.13 (1)];
- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence [CC 85(2)(A)];
- 2 X Fail to Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1(1)].
STARR made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
