A 34 year-old male is facing charges following an overnight incident spanning central and south Regina.
At approximately 6:05 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Communications Officers received a call from a male victim who stated he had just been threatened with a firearm as he attempted to tow a vehicle in the 800 Block of Edgar Street. The male suspect, along with another male and a female, then got in the vehicle and fled the scene.
Investigation led police to a residence in the 3800 block of Regina Avenue. At approximately 12:40 a.m., Patrol officers, plainclothes investigators and members of our Canine Unit attended to the scene. The male suspect initially refused to exit the residence and members of the RPS Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Team were called in to assist. Nearly six hours later, at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, the male suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. As a result of this investigation, a nearby high school was placed in Secure the Building mode.
As a result, 34 year-old William BITTERNOSE is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267 (A)];
- Use of an Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence [CC 85 (2)]; and
- Breach of Probation [CC 733.1 (1)].
