A 14 year-old male is charged following an assault early Saturday evening in the 1800 Block of Lorne Street.
Police were called to the area at approximately 7:20 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived they found a male victim with a stab wound to the leg. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS and treated for his injury. Through investigation, patrol members learned the victim and a second male were walking in the area when they were approached by a group of people who started to act aggressively. An altercation took place between the victim and several people in the group and resulted in the victim being stabbed.
Officers were able to immediately track down the suspect a short distance away and he was taken into custody. As a result, a 14 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is now charged with:
- Assault With a Weapon [CC 267(A)].
The youth will make his first appearance on this charge in Provincial Youth Court on May 29 at 9:30 a.m.
