On Friday, April 14, 2023 at approximately 12:25 p.m., police responded to the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue for a report of a female outside a business, armed with a knife, stabbing tires on vehicles in the parking lot. Information provided to police was that the female had originally shown up at the business armed with a sledge hammer, however the sledge hammer had been taken away. Police arrived on scene and located the 23 year-old female suspect who started running away. The female suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of a Police Canine Unit. Through investigation, Police learned the female had threatened a staff member with the knife and was on conditions not to possess a knife. There was no damage to any vehicles in the parking lot as originally reported. Police escorted the female to the hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained as a result of being apprehended by the Police Service Dog.
Twenty-three year old Laina Avery TUCKANOW, of Regina is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(a)]
- Breach of Undertaking [CC 145(4)(a)]
TUCKANOW will appear in Regina Provincial Court on these charges on May 18, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
